Are all commercial “bleaches” alkaline?
I need to clean a “Portland Stone” Memorial (Fleet Air Arm All Ranks at NMA) and have been advised to use a “weak bleach solution” and a deck brush. BUT since then some on suggested that it must be “Alkaline” or a BROWN stain will remain?
The memorial is less than 18 months old and has green moss/alge weather stains i’m going to try to remove.
Weak bleach is the way to do it. Fill a bucket with water, pour in a cup of liquid bleach. Very effective against algae.
Bleach is a 5% solution of sodium hypochlorite.
